There will be essential engineering works on the Blackpool Tramway taking place overnight on Tuesday 13th October close to Heathfield Road tramstop in Fleetwood. These works will mean trams from Starr Gate will start and terminate at Thornton Gate from around 2130 with a free replacement bus service in operation too.
There has been a speed restriction on the line close to Heathfield Road and presumably these essential works will help to ensure that this can be cleared.
The last tram from Thornton Gate to Fleetwood Ferry will be at 2117 and the final tram from Fleetwood Ferry will be at 2140. After this a free replacement bus service will run between Thornton Gate and Fleetwood Ferry (using one bus with journeys taking 18 minutes in each direction).
Steve Staley, Tramway Director, said: “We’re doing all we can to minimise any inconvenience during these essential works on Heathfield Road, including providing a free shuttle bus once the last tram leaves Thornton Gate at 9.17 pm, and Fleetwood Ferry at 9.40 pm.
“Carrying out these works overnight means they can be completed quickly and efficiently, reducing disruption for residents and local businesses.
“Every effort will be made to keep any disturbance to a minimum, and we would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while the work is carried out.”
A full tram service is expected to resume from the start of service on Wednesday 14th October 2026.
