Heaton Park is again the location as we continue to see some photos of Manchester 765 in the early days of the preserved tramway in 1980.
This was the very end of the tramway back then as evidenced by the grass verge and fence in front (or behind depending on your point of view really!) of Manchester 765 which would make any further progress impossible for the single deck tramcar.
Today the tramway runs to New Lakeside in an extension built in 2011 (some 15 years ago now) and has left the route being approximately 0.84km long.
The pristine state of the new tarmac is again evident though sadly passengers appear to have been few and far between on an afternoon of generally good weather.
