The annual Tramlines Festival will be taking place at Hillsborough Park between Friday 24th and Sunday 26th July 2026. This year headline acts will include Fatboy Slim, Courteeners and Wolf Alice and an estimated 10,000 people are expected to attend. They are being advised that one of the best ways to get there is by tram and to help Supertram have announced they will be running a special service to assist.
The Purple route has become well-known for running a fairly infrequent service (hourly Monday to Saturday) between Herdings Park and Cathedral but that will change on all three days of the event with it being extended towards the event, and running more frequently.
After the event finishes on each night there will also be further changes with a pause in services through the area whilst crowds disperse with Leppings Lane being the only stop in use to get people back towards the city centre.
Services planned to run are as follows:
Friday 24th and Saturday 25th July
Special timetable from 1100-1800:
- Blue – every 12 minutes between Halfway and Middlewood (instead of Malin Bridge)
- Purple – Herdings Park to Malin Bridge with more frequent services
- Tram-Train – normal service
- Yellow – normal service
1800-2030:
- Services return to normal
- Minor delays whilst the network resets
Post event (2030-2300 approximately):
- Blue – Terminates at Shalesmoor. Once crowds have dispersed will return to Malin Bridge.
- Purple – normal service
- Tram-Train – normal service
- Yellow – Terminates at Shalesmoor. Once crowds have dispersed will return to Middlewood.
- Post-event service – Leppings Lane to Sheffield City Centre up to every 5 minutes. Will run non-stop as far as Shalesmoor.
Sunday 26th July
Special timetable from 1100-1800:
- Blue – Halfway to Malin Bridge every 15 minutes
- Purple – Herdings Park to Middlewood every 15 minutes
- Tram-Train – normal service
- Yellow – normal service
1800-1930:
- Services return to normal
- Minor delays whilst the network resets
Post event (1930-2300 approximately):
- Blue – Terminates at Shalesmoor. Once crowds have dispersed will return to Malin Bridge.
- Purple – normal service
- Tram-Train – normal service
- Yellow – Terminates at Shalesmoor. Once crowds have dispersed will return to Middlewood.
- Post-event service – Leppings Lane to Sheffield City Centre up to every 5 minutes. Will run non-stop as far as Shalesmoor.
