In Pictures: Swinging 60s Weekend at East Anglia Transport Museum

On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May 2026 the East Anglia Transport Museum returned to the 1960s as their latest special event took place. Included in the event was the usual tram and trolleybus service, plus the East Suffolk Light Railway in operation as well as a free vintage bus service around the local area. Music was also provided by The Austin Beats to really add to the atmosphere of the 60s! Bryan Grint paid a visit on the first day of the event.

The single deck Lowestoft tram body no. 23 remains in situ as a small exhibition space and is seen here as another vehicle from the Suffolk coastal town is seen in the background. That is AEC Regent II no. 21, a regular sight at events at the museum.

Another view of the Lowestoft bus as Bournemouth trolley 286 passes by as it takes the turning circle to the Chapel Road terminus.

One of two trams in service on the first day of the event was Sheffield 513. The Roberts Car being a product of 1950 and it would have seen use into 1960 before Sheffield abandoned their final tram routes.

The standard Chapel Road terminus line-up as we see 513 joined by Amsterdam 474 and Bournemouth trolleybus 286.
