Around the World in Trams: San Francisco 1059

Its San Francisco again for this edition of “Around the World in Trams”.

And once again it’s a PCC which was originally built for Philadelphia but has subsequently been acquired for Muni and restored to service. It was built 1948 as 2099 in the Philadelphia Transportation Company fleet and moved to San Francisco from 1992 with restoration coming the following year. As with the majority of the PCCs now used on the “F” line it carries a tribute livery, this one being for the Boston Elevated Railway.

1059 is at Embarcadero/Pier 39 when working in service in the below photo.
