Another edition of “Around the World in Trams” comes your way and we stay in San Francisco for another shot of one of the restored PCCs in service.
Numbered 1058 in the San Francisco fleet, this car was originally 2124 in the Philadelphia Transportation Company fleet. As with the others now in San Francisco it was built in 1948 and would be acquired by Muni in 1992 and restoration came the following year.
1995 saw it enter service on the F-line, and at this time it carried the 1950s Chicago Transit Authority livery of green and cream. And its that livery that we see the tram carrying in this photo. Since 2010 it has instead been in the earlier livery of Mercury Green, Croydon Cream and Swampholly Orange.
Here we see the car at the Jones Street/Fisherman’s Wharf terminus.
