Telent latest company to join UKTram

Telent – a specialist in the design, build, support and management of digital infrastructure – have become the latest company to become members of UKTram. The decision to become a member comes as they start to expand its work in light rail and mass transit.

Telent are already starting to support authorities and operators with the integration of communications and technology across new and existing networks.

Olivia Brown, Business Development Manager for Light Rail at Telent, said: “Light rail is moving into a phase focused more on renewal and modernisation than expansion, with increasing emphasis on performance, resilience and customer experience.

“As systems become more complex, digital infrastructure and systems integration are becoming central to how networks are delivered and operated. UKTram provides an important forum for engaging with the sector, sharing insight and supporting collaboration as we continue to grow our presence in light rail and mass transit.”

Telent have recently strengthened their focus in this area with Oliva being a recent appointment to the company and bringing with her experience from Very Light Rail and innovation projects. They are particularly interested in contributing to discussions around systems integration and digital infrastructure, and understanding how networks can better align communications and data to support safe and reliable operations.

Telent were involved in the upgrade of Manchester Metrolink’s communications network. This project was completed in 2025 and saw a legacy transmission infrastructure replaced with a resilient fibre-optic network delivered during live operations.
