Around the World in Trams: San Francisco 1057

We continue “Around the World in Trams” with another view of a PCC in operation in San Francisco.

As with last week’s example, San Francisco 1057 was originally built for Philadelphia Transportation Company in 1948 and would remain there until 1992 when it was acquired by Muni. It was then restored to service in 1993.

The PCC carries the bright yellow livery of Cincinnati (although it has no connection to that US city) and because of the livery is said to be one of the most photographed cars in the fleet.

We see 1057 in this image at Castro terminus.
