The Light Rail Operators Committee (LROC) at UKTram have named their new leadership after Steve Mabey announced his intention to step down from the Chair role. Graham Fitzgerald from Transdev Ireland will be the new Chair with Trevor Stocker (current at South Yorkshire Supertram) taking on the Vice Chair role.
Steve Mabey had played a key role in leading the LROC in recent years. During his tenure he had supported open discussion and shared learning across light rail operations.
His place will now be taken by Graham Fitzgerald who has been an active member of the LROC since 2019 and had been Vice Chair since 2023. He is currently Luas Duty Operations and Control Room Manager at Transdev Ireland. In this role he leads operational delivery across the Luas network. His experience includes incident management, safety-critical communications, customer experience and service delivery, as well as responsibility for managing a large operational workforce.
Following the announcement of him taking on the Chair role, Graham commented: “I am absolutely delighted to be announced as the new Chairperson of the UKTram Light Rail Operations Committee. I am very proud and honoured that this has been made official. I have learned a great deal from Steve Mabey, who has been a fantastic leader and friend over the last number of years, and I hope to continue his great work. Thanks also to my colleagues at Transdev Ireland and Luas who allow me to contribute as part of UKTram and its extended team.”
Current Head of Service Delivery at Supertram, Trevor Stocker will be stepping into the Vice Chair role. He is a senior operations and safety leader with more than 20 years’ experience across operations and resource planning.
Trevor said: “I have been attending LROC for nearly 10 years and have always appreciated the community, collaboration and comradery. As I have progressed in my career, I have taken great pride in the wider contributions we can make outside of our home networks to raise the profile and improve what we deliver for our customers and grow the industry.
“I have benefitted from the immense experience of others in LROC and have appreciated their warmth and willingness to support each other. From my first meetings attended with Mike Mabey, to our outgoing Chair Steve, who have provided inspiration and guidance, that I can continue with as I progress into the role of Vice Chair. I am looking forward to working with Graham and the rest of the UKTram team to continue to build the LROC group.”
