As February starts to quickly run away from us its time to start looking ahead to the spring, and that usually means heritage lines start to wake up again. That will include the Volk’s Electric Railway in Brighton and they have recently announced some significant dates for 2026.
The 2026 season is due to start on Saturday 28th March and following that the railway should be running the complete length of the route between Aquarium and Black Rock daily until September. That, as always, is subject weather conditions and maintenance requirements.
In addition to the regular two-train operation it is also planned that on Sunday 3rd May they will be operating a special three-train service. This will help to support the Historic Commercial Vehicle Association “London to Brighton” run which takes place on the same day.
Once again in 2026, the Volk’s Electric Railway Association (VERA) will be taking over operation of the railway for special evening services, to help raise money for railway related projects. On each night, subject to weather again!, services will continue until 2000.
Planned evening services are:
Saturday 23rd May
Saturday 20th June
Saturday 1st August
Monday 31st August
Saturday 19th September (to include illuminated trains)
