South Yorkshire Supertram have confirmed that they will be offering members of the armed forces and veterans free travel for the Armed Forces Day celebrations in 2025 (and they are likely to not be the only transport operator to do the same if previous years are any indicator).
The offer will be available on both Saturday 21st June (which is Sheffield and Rotherham’s Armed Forces Day) and Saturday 28th June (the official national Armed Forces Day) and will extend to any current member of the Armed Forces, veterans and cadets in uniform.
To claim free travel one of the following should be presented:
- Ministry of Defence issued ID card (MOD90)
- Veterans’ Badge of Veterans’ ID card
- Any official documentation proving status as a serving member or veteran
Nigel Wragg, Supertram Commercial Manager, said: “Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for all of us to come together and recognise the immense dedication and sacrifices made by our servicemen and women. We believe it’s vital to honour their courage and commitment, not only to show our gratitude but to remind ourselves of the values they uphold in service to our country. By commemorating this day, we pay respect to their past and ongoing contributions.”
