First major Supertram engineering works for 2025 announced

2025 looks set to be another year of major engineering works for the South Yorkshire Supertram – as the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority continuing to invest in the network – with the first set of works having now been announced.

Saturday 29th March to Sunday 13th April

  • Renewal works will take place near Birley Lane (Saturday 29th to Monday 31st March) and near Birley Moor Road (Tuesday 1st to Sunday 13th April)
  • No trams will run from Birley Lane to Halfway throughout the period
  • Blue route services will operate Malin Bridge to Birley Lane only
  • Replacement bus service will run Birley Lane to Halfway

Saturday 29th March until winter 2025/6

  • Construction works will be taking place on the new stop at Magna on the Tram-Train route
  • After 1700 on all Saturdays no Tram-Train services will operate between Meadowhall South and Rotherham Parkgate with the services from Cathedral diverted to Meadowhall
  • The last service each Saturday from Cathedral to Parkgate will depart at 1700, with a return from Parkgate at 1731
  • A replacement bus will run between Meadowhall South, Rotherham Central and Rotherham Parkgate

Friday 18th to Sunday 20th April

  • Renewal works at Hillsborough Interchange
  • No trams will run on either the Blue or Yellow routes between Shalesmoor and Malin Bridge/Middlewood
  • A replacement bus service will operate instead
  • Full details of the revised service will follow from Monday 7th April 2025
