NET Travel Centre to close

Nottingham Express Transit have announced that their Travel Centre (located on King Street in the city centre) will be closing permanently on Tuesday 25^th March as a result of the changing habits of customers. The money saved from the closure will be reinvested into policing the network.

The closure comes following feedback from NET travellers about how they choose to buy their travel passes and tickets. Many stated that they mainly use the Travel Centre for the Robin Hood top-up machine, a service which can be done at every stop on the normal ticket vending machines.

The staff who currently work at the Travel Centre will be redeployed to Wilkinson Street where they will continue to support passengers with their journeys over the phone, WhatsApp, email and online via the customer support hub.

Sarah Turner, service delivery and safety director at NET, said: “We’re always looking at ways we can improve the service we provide our customers, and this upcoming travel centre closure is one of many ways we’re helping to do just that. The decision was made following feedback from our customers and the trends we’ve noticed surrounding how people now choose to buy their tickets and contact our customer service team. We’ve listened and taken their comments onboard, and this closure is a reflection of that.

“Over the past year we’ve also renewed our commitment towards reducing fare evasion across the network, and the upcoming travel centre closure provides the opportunity to support these efforts even further. The money saved from the closure will be reinvested into the network to fund additional policing, allowing us to reinforce our zero tolerance stance toward fare evasion, and enabling us to further increase safety across the network.”

Anyone who has been using the Travel Centre to purchase tickets is being advised that they can continue to do so by using the ticket machines at each stop or by using the NETGO! app or via contactless payment using the lime green validators.
