In Pictures: Metrolink services run from Altrincham to Old Trafford

As we reported last night, on Friday 24th January 2025 Manchester Metrolink services were subject to significant disruption after damage to the overhead lines at Deansgate-Castlefield. This had meant that no trams were able to run through this stop which usually sees services every few minutes to locations across the network. It also led to revised service patterns and unusual destinations on the trams. Such as at Altrincham where trams were, initially, only able to run as far as Old Trafford. Steven Hughes captured these photos.

3051 is just seen here having departed from Altrincham. As can be seen from its destination display it will only be going as far as Old Trafford.

In this photo we feature 3049 which is about to arrive at the terminus with its destination display have changed to Not In Service.

3059 is part of a double unit as it stands at Altrincham. It will head off to Old Trafford when it departs. The railway doesn’t seem to be doing any better with its service as it looks like the next service to Manchester Piccadilly has been cancelled and there is a warning of service disruption.
