As things stand this is the last edition of “Manchester Metrolink Then & Now” as we take another look at how things were before Metrolink came and how they were once it started operating.
Once again we are on the East Didsbury line, with this pair of images taken from the Kings Road Bridge which is just two bridges before the entrance to Metrolink’s second depot at Trafford.

Its 20th February 2010 for the “Then” image as we look towards Chorlton to see how things were before the tracks had started to go down. It would be around 17 months later that trams would start running here.

Just three days after public services had begun we return to the same bridge and look in the same direction to see how things had changed. 10th July 2011 is the date as we see 3004 just about to come under where the photographer stands. It would have started its service back at St Werburgh’s Road, its last stop would have been Chorlton and it will ultimately end up at Victoria. (Both Photographs by Keith Chadbourne)
