Seaton Tramway’s 2024 season has now come to a close (last trams ran Sunday 5th January 2025) and now they are starting to look ahead to a packed 2025 season of events. 2025 will see the tramway celebrate its 55th anniversary whilst they will also be taking part in the nationwide Railway 200 events.
The anniversary of the tramway will be on 28th August, with that day in 1970 seeing the very first public services run between Riverside and Bobsworth Bridge. There will be special events to mark this occasion in August but that is not all to look forward to on the tramway over the next year.
The break in services is only a brief one as the first trams will run in public service again for the February half-term week. A daily service runs from 15th to 23rd February and its then weekends only during March. Daily operation starts on 29th March and runs all the way until the main end of the season on 2nd November. There will also be a Winter service again between 27th December and 4th January 2026.
The three colour timetable will be used again. The Yellow service runs in February and weekends until 23rd March (every 20 minutes 1000-1600) and then from 29th September to 2nd November. The Blue service (every 20 minutes 1000-1700) is in use 29th March to 25th July and 1st to 28th September with the peak Pink service (every 20 minutes 1000-1700 please peak extras) running 26th July to 31st August.
Alongside the normal service there are a number of special events and experiences returning for 2025. The Story Tram, The Dinosaur Tram Adventure, Pirate Tram, Birdwatching Tram, Driver’s Eye Experience and Polar Express Tram Ride are all back this year and they will be joined by the return of Depot Tours as well as Twilight Tram rides on select dates in August.
The year looks set to be another action packed one in Devon and you can find out more about what is going on by visiting their website at http://www.tram.co.uk.
