No illuminations tours because of fireworks – there should be fireworks because of no trams – but there again with only two cars on tours is the effort really worth it anyway??

No trains to Blackpool North station after 19.00hrs. Just what you want if coming in to see the lights or looking to get home on public transport

Can’t come soon enough – the tram service being transferred to the tourism department away from the numpties who can’t seem to fathom that they are running a unique propsition and not a run of the mill bus system

And whatever happened to the enthusiasm that Brian brought to the early heritage years – Paradise Lost?!

Its the Council who insist on no tours and service breaks etc when fireworks etc is on NOT BTS so direct your bile towards them.
Like most councils now they are scared of their own shadow.

I’m sorry to disagree regarding the function of the tramway Frank but the real purpose of the system is that of part of a public transport system not some heritage fairground ride. The heritage operation is now a distraction from the main function. The public have shown their views of the heritage trams by their lack of interest. The Blackpool obsessed enthusiasts need to either dig very deep into their pockets to support the thing or get over the fact that it seems to be a lost cause.
As for the train services a quick look at departures and arrivals for Blackpool North seems to indicate that the last train back to Manchester leaves at around 22:20 on weekdays and Saturdays with arrivals continuing until around the same time. I would have to agree that the present tram service frequency and pattern leave a lot to be desired but one of the reasons for that seems to be a bit outside the control of BTS. The shortage of public transport staff nationally is a big problem with no easy solution.

Steve – the public have shown their lack of interest in the current offering, not Heritage in general. The Blue service was always busy and I’m sure it would be again – affordable with the chance to break your journey and come back on a different one.
Heritage operations work perfectly in the rest of the world but the current BTS mismanagement (and councils influence) haven’t a a clue. The awful state of the fleet can’t help – I’ve lost count of the dewirements, breakdowns etc.
