Its been a while since we ran an article looking at the trams which have been commissioned for service in 2024 at the Crich Tramway Village and since we have there have been a further two vehicles which have returned to service for the season. These are Oporto 273 and, more recently, London Passenger Transport Board 1622.
1622 is the most recent returnee with it being used for the first in 2024 on 21st August. Having missed the entirety of the 2023 season, the runs on this date by 1622 marked its first use since 2022 adding an extra fully enclosed tram to the operational fleet.
Meanwhile, 273 returned to action on 1st August. It was used during the earlier part of the 2023 season but required some attention before being commissioned for 2024.
Following these two trams returning to service it now means 16 different electric passenger trams have run in service in 2024 at Crich: Blackpool cars 40, 166, 167, 236, 630, Chesterfield 7, Glasgow 22, Leeds 180 and 399, Liverpool 869, London Transport 1622, Metropolitan Electric Tramways 331, Newcastle 102, Oporto 273 and Sheffield pair 74 and 510.
