A trip to… South Yorkshire Supertram

In this latest pictorial article we join John Binch as he takes a trip to the South Yorkshire Supertram network for some views of trams taken on 8th October 2026.

Due to a historical well or mineshaft causing a track defect at Birley on the Blue Route of the South Yorkshire Supertram, which was discovered on Sunday 23rd August 2026, there are currently no services operating between Gleadless Townend and Halfway. Blue Route services are operating at an increased frequency from Herdings Park while the fault is repaired. A replacement bus service is operating between Gleadless Townend and Halfway serving all affected tram stops in the meantime. On Friday 8th October, Siemens-Duewag tram 109 stands at the Herdings Park terminus with the 1730 service to Malin Bridge.
