The summer of Manchester Metrolink improvement works will continue for three weeks from Tuesday 27th August. The next location for works to take place will be at Piccadilly Gardens meaning no trams will be able to run from there to St Peter’s Square.
The works will kick off on Tuesday 27th August and continue until Tuesday 17th September. During that period trams will run as follows:
- Altrincham to Bury via 2CC (with additional peak time services Monday to Saturday)
- Ashton-under-Lyne to Crumpsall
- East Didsbury to Rochdale Town Centre
- East Didsbury to Shaw and Crompton (peak time only Monday to Saturday)
- Eccles to Deansgate-Castlefield via MediaCityUK
- Etihad Campus to Victoria (peak time only Monday to Saturday, all day Sunday)
- Manchester Airport to Deansgate-Castlefield
- The Trafford Centre to Cornbrook
All services will run every 12 minutes Monday to Saturday and every 15 minutes on Sunday.
During the work there will be no trams at all between Piccadilly Gardens and St Peter’s Square along Mosley Street and a replacement bus will operate between Piccadilly and Deansgate-Castlefield.
Pete Sommers, TfGM’s Network Director for Metrolink, commented: “Thousands of journeys are made on Metrolink every day of the week, so it’s vitally important we’re always working to keep our passengers safe and Greater Manchester moving.
“Earlier phases of our summer works – at London Road, Shudehill and Market Street – have been successfully completed and at Piccadilly Gardens we will be doing everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum, with staff at key stops to help you, replacement bus services and signed diversions for pedestrians.
“While this work is ongoing, I would encourage customers to plan ahead by checking our app, website and social media channels for the latest travel information and leaving plenty of time for their journeys.”
Buses which normally travel along Mosley Street between New York Street and Piccadilly Gardens will also be diverted via Portland Street.
