In Pictures: New adverts keep coming on Edinburgh Trams

There may only be 27 trams in the Edinburgh Trams fleet but despite that the number of changes in adverts keeps you on your toes to see exactly what a tram is going to look like today! Since our last update there have been a further three new designs seen – two full wraps and one in the partial advertising style.

Taking them in order of application we start with 276 which had previously been carrying an advert for Taylor Swift in connection with her record-breaking (for the trams) concerts at Murrayfield. This was a full wrap and it has been replaced by another full wrap with the new advertiser being Edinburgh Dungeon. It’s a black for black swap as the Taylor Swift advert was mainly black and for those who know the publicity for any of the Dungeon attractions across the UK it will come as no surprise that this advert is also mainly black.

As well as the Edinburgh Dungeon logo and images the tram includes bright green stripes by the door to make sure it adheres to access regulations. 276 is the first tram to have carried three full wraps (OVO Energy being its first) and its also the second time that its advertised Edinburgh Dungeon after it had a partial ad back in 2018.

The next tram to receive a new advert is 255 which is clearly no longer “Forever Edinburgh” (its previous advertiser) as its now carrying a mainly purple full wrap. Its promoting the Royal Bank of Scotland’s support for Team GB ahead of the Paris Olympics taking place this summer.

It is the first time that 255 has had a full wrap and is also only the third different advertiser on the tram. It started off with a CR Smith ad (October 2017-March 2020) before from October 2020 it has had three consecutive adverts for Forever Edinburgh.

And the final new advert to report on is 268 which is now promoting the Edinburgh International Festival. This has replaced an advert for the Johnnie Walker visitor attraction (August 2023-July 2024) and is its fourth advert overall (Parabola My Edinburgh Park and then Edinburgh Park being the other two.
