West Midlands Metro 42 has returned to service following repairs to accident damage. The tram was back in action on 5th June 2024 having last been in service in September when it was involved in an accident with an unmarked Police car.
That collision took place during the testing of the Wolverhampton Railway Station extension in September 2023 with the damage severe enough to warrant a long delay in repairs being undertaken. We reported back in January 2024 that these had started but its taken a further five months for them to be completed and then the tram to be recommissioned for service.
42 is in the standard blue West Midlands Metro livery having lost its partial advertising vinyls for Nourished during its time off the road.
There are now two Urbos100 trams at Wednesbury Depot out of use requiring repairs – 46 and 54.
