The Light Rail Safety and Standards Board have confirmed another permanent appointment to its board of directors. Danny Vaughan (Head of Metrolink at Transport for Greater Manchester) is now on the board permanently having served as an interim board member for the past six months.
He replaces Bob Morris – former Chief Operating Officer for TfGM – who has stood down after his retirement.
Danny Vaughan has more than 20 years experience in rail and light rail. He previously worked for the Railway Procurement Agency in Dublin (now TII), Alstom Transport and Halcrow in Australia before moving to Manchester in 2013.
Carl Williams, LRSSB Chief Executive, said: “Danny has already made a significant contribution to the work of the board, and his knowledge and experience as the head of the UK’s largest tramway will prove invaluable as we continue to take the lead in all aspects of light rail safety. Bob has served on the board since it was formed in 2019, and we would also like to thank Bob for his commitment to the organisation over the past five years and wish him all the best for the future.”
Danny Vaughan added: “These are exciting times for the LRSSB as it continues to grow and evolve, and I’m proud to be part of an organisation that’s already delivering huge benefits for the sector and the travelling public.”
