At the end of last week it was revealed that owing to an overhead line fault at Newhaven trams on the Edinburgh Trams network were only able to run between the Airport and Ocean Terminal. Now seven days on and an update has been provided which has confirmed that repairs are necessary.
Over the past week engineers have been investigating the problem and have now identified the source of the fault. This will need repairs but these will only be able to take place once the required components have been delivered.
Ticket acceptance on Lothian Buses services 16 and Skylink 200 between Ocean Terminal and Newhaven will remain in place until the line reopens to trams again.
A spokesman from Edinburgh Trams said: “Once again, we would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience on this section of the network while reminding them that a frequent, seven-minute service between Edinburgh Airport and Ocean Terminal is operating as normal. Our engineers will, of course, work as quickly as possible to carry out the repairs, and although we are unable to put a timescale for completion, customers should continue to follow our social media channels for further updates.”
