The number of vinyl wraps on Manchester Metrolink is set to reach an all time high with the news that four M5000s are to receive “Vodafone makeovers” as part of the phone company’s appointment as Metrolink’s official Wi-Fi partner.
Many of you reading this article will ahead enjoyed the free W-Fi on board Metrolink trams since it was introduced over a year ago (in fact many of our Live Facebook updates have been uploaded thanks to this service!) Wi-Fi is available on all 120 M5000s plus the Metroshuttle buses and this service has been provided by Vodafone but the partnership is now to be extended and this will include full Vodafone makeovers.
This looks set to be vinyl wraps added in the usual style – keeping the fleet livery ends – with the news illustrated with 3093 at the depot with its new look. The other three trams set to receive the livery have not been revealed.
If 3039 (Just Eat), 3069 (Slater Menswear), 3085 (Just Eat) and 3103 (Hits Radio Manchester) also retain their adverts this will mean eight of the 120 trams will now be running with adverts. As soon as we have more details on these new adverts the fleet list will be updated.
