In Pictures: More of Liverpool 245

On Sunday 15th December, a few working members from the Heaton Park Tramway visited Birkenhead, where they were treated to a close look at Liverpool 245. As reported previously, the major restoration of this tram is finally nearing completion ahead of an anticipated launch back into passenger service next year, and these photos show the recent progress on returning the car to an operational condition.

One end of the recently painted Liverpool 245, seen from within the confines of the Birkenhead tram depot and workshop at Taylor Street.

As this view illustrates, the lower saloon is now virtually complete with all of the upholstered swing-over seats now in place.

Looking slightly less complete due to the absence of any seats, is the restored upper deck interior of 245.

Our final photo shows 245 alongside Birkenhead stalwart, Hong Kong car 70. (All photos by Joe Savage)

Wonderful! One of my favourite trams love the Liverpool Streamliners. Maybe one day all 3 can be seen together.
