Work to start on replacing shelters at Sheffield tramstops

The shelters on both platforms at Attercliffe and Arena/Olympic Legacy Park stops on the Supertram network are to be replaced as part of project set to take place in early 2024. Funding for the replacement – which will also see new bins and additional fencing at Arena/Olympic Legacy Park – is being funded by Sheffield City Council via the Levelling up Fund Connectivity and Movement scheme.

Macemain Amstad have been contracted to complete the works which will start from Wednesday 3rd January 2024. Four, 8 bay cantilever shelters with half ends and litter bins will be installed as part of the project. Its part of an overall project in the Attercliffe area which is hoped to improve connectivity and provide an enhanced pedestrian and cycling experience which will create a safer, healthier and more attractive environment.

The work is due to take place as follows:

Attercliffe – Sheffield bound platform Wednesday 3rd to Friday 19th January 2024. Meadowhall bound platform from Wednesday 10th to Wednesday 24th January 2024

Arena/Olympic Legacy Park – between Wednesday 24th January and Wednesday 21st February 2024 with further details to follow

Both stops will remain open throughout the works but the shelters will be cordoned off until the new shelters are completed. The real time information displays will also be switched off with timetable information affixed to the temporary fencing.
