In Pictures: Birkenhead Heritage Tramway

On the way to the Isle of Man a visit was made to the Birkenhead Heritage Tramway which was in the middle of its summer mid-week service at the time. On Friday 9th August the service was being provided by Wallasey 78 which was operating a 30 minute frequency. Photos of 78 plus a few shots around Taylor Street depot are shown below.

Wallasey 78 passes the wastewater treatment plant on its way to Taylor Street.

78 waits at Woodside Ferry before departing with the last journey of the day to Taylor Street.

A look inside Taylor Street depot with Birkenhead 20 and Lisbon 730 to the forefront. Also visible are Hong Kong built 70 and at the back Liverpool 245.

Whilst most attention is currently being turned towards Liverpool 245 there is also another tram in the middle of a major restoration: Warrington 2. The tram is seen here in the corner of Taylor Street. (All photos: Gareth Prior)

Like the last picture of Warrington 2. Looking forward to seeing this with its relatively unusual angled ends. Top job.
