22nd September is ‘Brush car Friday’

It was already known that the now annual Blackpool tramway anniversary spectacular event – being held this year on 23rd & 24th September – would be dominated by the Brush Railcoach class, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of these historic trams in 2017. However, an additional event, solely featuring the Brush cars, has now been announced for Friday 22nd September when four cars of the type are expected to be in service.

A special timetable will see four trams operating between Pleasure Beach and Cleveleys on the Friday afternoon, as a warm-up for the main weekend of events. Although it has not been explicitly stated which trams will run, as publicity states that the service will be worked entirely by Brush cars, this presumably means that it will include the debut in service of both 621 – which is being overhauled and repainted in 1950s livery having not run since 2004 – and 630 – which will be travelling back to its old home on loan from Crich Tramway Village shortly, after starring in their own event on 16th September. The line-up should be completed by Heaton Park’s 623 – which has been on loan to Blackpool since June – and 631.

The special timetable for 22nd September is provided below:
