Trams & Chips

Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours are offering a unique new experience on Wednesday 30th September, by teaming up with the world-famous fish & chip shop Harry Ramsdens for an illuminations tour with a difference! This brand is of course no stranger to Blackpool with their most popular restaurant in the UK sited on the promenade, directly opposite the southbound heritage tram stop.

On this evening, a 1930s heritage tram will arrive at North Pier for 1830 to load passengers. A supper of fish and chips with mushy peas will then be served on board the tram from 1900hrs, with a full round trip through the illuminations (presumably North Pier-Little Bispham-Pleasure Beach-North Pier) being undertaken, lasting approximately 75 minutes. This will be a refreshing change from the ‘Ride & Dine’ packages offered so far this year, not only in that you can actually eat on the tram, but also because traditional British food is on the menu! The tour will also be a blast from the past as it will be departing from a location close to where illumination tours loaded passengers before 2012, when the loading area was moved to Pleasure Beach.

All this is being offered for a very reasonable £10.50, and is being dubbed the ‘Great British Night Out’. It is great to see once again the heritage team working closely with other organisations to offer something a bit different from the norm, and for one bargain price it will be possible to enjoy three parts of a great seaside trip. Hopefully this new venture will be a great success and may be repeated in the future. Pre-booking is requested to ensure a place on this tour, and full details are provided below, courtesy of the Blackpool Heritage Trust and Blackpool Transport Services Ltd.
