We have another edition of “Trams &” and its off to London Trams this time out for two forms of electric traction.
We’re at Elmers End for this photo with a tram having terminated with a service for Wimbledon just as a South Eastern service into central London is seen departing for its onward journey. Elmers End is a terminus for tram services with a single platform stop provided adjacent to the London bound platform of the railway.
The tram we are taking a look at here is Variobahn 2561 which has already changed its destination display to let us all know that it will be returning to Wimbledon when it departs in a few minutes.
On the right (and it’s the rear of two units) is class 465 EMU 465 028 in the usual South Eastern livery. There were 147 of this class of EMU built between 1991 and 1994 with the majority still in service in 2026, although some have been scrapped and there are long-term plans for their replacement.
