Wabtec UK – who provide rail technology, engineering services and lifecycle support services for rail operators across the country – have become a member at UKTram. Their aim of becoming a member is to build stronger connections across light rail.
The company are keen to contribute to conversations around fleet reliability and extending the life of existing assets, while also exploring the role digital technology and innovation can play in supporting light rail.
James Hammett, UKTram Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Wabtec to UKTram. They bring a wealth of experience from across rail, and there are clear areas where that knowledge can add to the conversations already taking place across our membership. Our members benefit enormously from being able to learn from each other, and we look forward to Wabtec getting involved and sharing its experience with the UKTram network.”
Wabtec sees knowledge sharing between operators, suppliers and other organisations as an important way to address challenges common across different networks. They hope to understand the priorities and challenges facing tram operators and infrastructure teams to be able to provide support across the sector.
