Car on tracks leads to Metrolink disruption

A car driven onto the tracks at Peel Hall on the Manchester Airport line lead to disruption and service suspension on the Metrolink network. The car was left on the tracks on Wednesday 19th August at around 1615 which meant no trams could pass the scene.

Details of how or why the car came to be on tracks hasn’t been reported but what is known is that it was left there and was only removed around 75 minutes later.

During that time no services ran between Wythenshawe Town Centre and Manchester Airport. As is usual there was ticket acceptance in place on local Bee Network bus services to allow people to complete (or start) their journeys.

Once the car was removed at around 1730 services did resume but residual delays remained as the service was reformed.
