As we saw in a recent article, preparation work for the major renewal work around the Park Square delta junction on the South Yorkshire Supertram network was well underway at the start of a three week closure. Barely 24 hours after those initial photos and it was no longer prep work as old track had already been removed with new track waiting to go down.

Looking at the delta junction from the Park Square bridge and city centre. The line towards Sheffield Station is seen going to the right, at least it would do if it hadn’t been removed already!

Getting closer to the removed track.

Now looking the other way towards the bridge and we again see the first track removed.

The compound we saw being created on the first day is being used to store new track and sleepers.

Trams wait for their next duties between Castle Square and Cathedral tramstops with 102 and 105 seen here. On the right are some of the replacement bus services in operation. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke, 9th August 2026)
