King Charles III – who also holds the title Lord of Mann as the Head of State of the Isle of Man – is to make his first official visit to the Isle of Man since his Coronation on Tuesday 14th July 2026.
Amongst the various aspects of his visit he will enjoy a short ride on the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway (it is planned that recently restored double decker 18 will be used) to help mark the 150th anniversary of the tramway.
He will also meet with tram staff. View the horses and trams and unveil a commemorative plaque at Strathallan to celebrate the significant anniversary.
The Lord of Mann, sadly, won’t be able to enjoy a full day out on the trams though as during his visit to the island he will also address members of Tynwald and take part in a ceremonial procession before responding to a Loyal Address and meeting members of the public outside the parliament building.
There will also be a garden party at Government House where there will be a number of Manx speakers, representatives from Culture Vannin, farmers, weavers and those involved in planting the Coronation Copse.
This will be his first visit to the Isle of Man since 2012 although Queen Camilla did visit during 2024.
