The start of the school summer holidays will once again coincide with major trackwork taking place on the Nottingham Express Transit network as the chance is taken to work on key junctions between The Forest and Wilkinson Street.
Between 26th July and 9th August there will be no tram services running between The Forest and Wilkinson Street with all stops on the two single line sections between them also being closed to passengers.
The work is due to take place at both Noel Street and Wilkinson Street.
There will be a replacement bus service between The Forest and Wilkinson Street but with road closures in place this will only serve one intermediate stop opposite the tramstop at Radford Road. Advice on the NET website for anyone who usually uses any of the intermediate tramstops suggests walking to either Wilkinson Street or The Forest to catch trams.
Trams will continue to run:
- Hucknall to Wilkinson Street
- Phoenix Park to Wilkinson Street
- The Forest to Toton Lane
- The Forest to Clifton South
Andy Downie, Head of Operations and Safety at NET, said: “Ensuring we carry out routine maintenance work is essential for providing a safe and reliable service for the thousands of passengers who use our trams. The tram network serves communities across the city every day, and by regularly renewing and refreshing our infrastructure, this means we can continue to deliver a tram service that passengers can rely on.
“We apologise for any inconvenience these upcoming works may cause. During this time, where possible we’d encourage customers to allow a little extra time before travelling. Passengers that normally use the Wilkinson Street Park & Ride can make use of The Forest Park & Ride, where they are able to board the tram directly into the city for a more convenient onwards journey. We thank all our customers in advance for their patience and co-operation while works are completed.”
A normal tram service is due to resume from 10th August.
