Blackpool Transport axe dog fares

You will be able to take your dog on board Blackpool Transport’s buses and trams for free as from Monday 1st June 2026 following the decision to remove the long-standing £1 fare for man’s best friend.

Jamie Swift, Head of Commercial at Blackpool Transport, explains more (and beware there are plenty of dog puns here!): “The ‘Rover’ ticket has been a long tradition here in Blackpool and dates back to well before dogs were allowed on many other networks in the UK.

“However, after listening to feedback from customers, we believe that charging for pampered pooches may actually put some people off using our services.

“As we want our trams and buses to provide the ‘paw-fect’ way to travel for everyone, this nominal fee has found itself in the dog house and been consigned to history!”

Whilst dogs can now travel for free, their two legged companions will need to have a valid ticket for travel. It is also the responsibility of the human being with the dog to make sure it is well behaved and that any unfortunate mess is cleaned up.
