Blackpool Tramway timetable to be tweaked

A revised tram timetable will run on the Blackpool Tramway from Sunday 17th May with the changes aimed at delivering a more robust service for passengers across the tramway.

The 15-minute Starr Gate to Fleetwood frequency will remain in place but the overall journey time will now take longer with additional time being added to the timetable to allow trams to be able to run more reliably.

Jamie Swift, Head of Commercial at Blackpool Transport, said: “We’re constantly striving to deliver an ever more reliable service, and these changes will give customers greater confidence that a tram will arrive at the expected time, particularly as the network gets busier during the busy summer season.

“It will also help us to manage ongoing maintenance work and investment in the network that will enable us to further enhance services in the future.”

Departures north from Starr Gate, North Station and North Pier will now be departing five minutes earlier with those from North Pier south to Starr Gate being four minutes earlier than the current timetable.

Overall services running from Starr Gate to Fleetwood direct will generally take 62 minutes (was 59) and those going via North Station will take 67 minutes (was 64). In the opposite direction it will be one minute faster – 61 and 66 minutes.

The frequency will remain as is now with trams every 15 minutes from either end and alternate departures going via North Station. First and last tram times also remain the same (0500 from Starr Gate Monday to Saturday, 0630 Sunday, last trams being 2335 from Fleetwood Ferry seven days a week plus additional departures at 0005 and 0035 which are not officially timetabled but will pick up and set down passengers at all stops except on the North Station extension).
