Blackpool 236 makes it double figures for trams at Crich

And then there were ten! The National Tramway Museum have now seen ten different trams operate in passenger service in 2026 with another Blackpool tram the latest to be used.

Boat Car 236 was used for the first time on Wednesday 8th April 2026. And with a brief sunny and warm spell being seen it was certainly a welcome return to the operating fleet for the single deck open top tram.

236 is the third open tram to have been used in service during 2026. It follows on from Newcastle 102 (which admittedly only ran briefly on the first of the season) and London County Council 106 (which has seen fairly extensive use so far).

The tram last ran at the tail end of the 2025 season.

The ten trams which have been used in service so far this year are Glasgow 22, Blackpool Standard 40, Blackpool & Fleetwood Box 40, Sheffield 74, Newcastle 102, London County Council 106, Blackpool 167, Blackpool 236, Leeds 345, and Leeds 399. That’s four from Blackpool, two from Leeds and one each from Glasgow, Sheffield, Newcastle, and London.
