Luas service partially suspended after fuel protests

Updated article 10/4/26

Fuel protests across Ireland have caused major disruption in the country with Dublin particularly hit hard. This has led to services on Dublin’s Luas Green line being severely disrupted, with the first disruption taking place on Tuesday 7th April 2026 and continuing since.

The protest – which is aimed at escalating fuel prices and calling on the Irish government to cap the price and reduce carbon taxes – started on Tuesday 7th April and led to a number of streets in Dublin City Centre being blocked by tractors and trucks.

This has included O’Connell Bridge which is causing disruption for not only tram services but also local bus services, with a number of buses having to be parked up at the side of the road unable to go any further.

For Luas’ part it is the Green line which has been impacted with no trams able to run from St Stephens Green to Dominick. Normal services were continuing to run on the Red line whilst the Green line operated Broombridge to Dominick and St Stephens Green to Brides Glen.
