Services on the Blackpool Tramway will run through to Fleetwood Ferry over the Easter weekend, with the trackworks which started in mid-March being paused for four days. They will resume again from Tuesday 7th April with a further week of work expected.
Work has been taking place at Fleetwood Ferry since 15th March and this has meant all trams from Starr Gate have been terminating at Fisherman’s Walk, with passenger advised to complete their journeys using either the no. 1 or 14 buses.
The work will be suspended for the Easter weekend though which will allow trams to run all the way again between Friday 3rd and Monday 6th April. This will still be on the temporary 15-minute frequency timetable (alternate services via North Station).
Steve Staley, Tramway Operations and Safety Manager, said: “This essential work started on March 15, and our contractors have worked tirelessly to ensure we can run a full timetable over the holiday.
“However, some further work is required, and so Fleetwood Ferry, Victoria Street and London Street tram stops will need to close for another week to help ensure we can deliver more reliable and comfortable services in the future.”
The work, and closure, will resume from Tuesday 7th April and will be in place until the end of Tuesday 14th April. The full route will reopen again on Wednesday 15th April.
Steve concluded: “Once again, we would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we continue to make upgrades across the network.”
