Llandudno & Colwyn Bay 7 to commemorate 70 years since the last tram

On 24th March, it will be 70 years since the last tram on the Llandudno & Colwyn Bay Electric Railway ran. To commemorate the occasion, the Llandudno & Colwyn Bay Tramway Society will be taking out tramcar no. 7 for a hauled run behind their Matador lorry, making a rare trip along the whole of the line.

Saturday 21st March 2026 is the closest Saturday to that anniversary and so that is when the team will be taking 7 (a tram which didn’t actually ever run in North Wales but is from the same batch of trams as those which were transferred from Bournemouth) for a journey.

It will start off from the old terminus at Llandudno West Shore via the whole route to Colwyn Bay returning from Greenfield Road to outside the former depot at Rhos on Sea, again via the former tram route. They are hoping to depart early afternoon (sometime after 1400) and the day will see photo stops and run pasts.

If you’re in North Wales on Saturday why not go and see the tram mark this historic occasion!
