South Yorkshire Supertram’s tramstop at Netherthorpe Road, which is accessed by way of a subway, has been transformed following the completion of a mural in the underpass.
The work – created by artist Rob Lee – has transformed the underpass sections that were previously unpainted, creating a brighter atmosphere with multiple colours and patterns.
Alistair Flindall, Director of Lick of Paint Festival, said: “It adds brightness to people’s day, something that welcomes them in and sends them off with good vibes.”
The latest mural builds on the first phase of the Netherthorpe community mural project. Feedback after the first mural was painted said that 78% felt similar artwork would improve other tram and bus stops, whilst 24% said initiatives like this made them feel safer.
