As we’ve entered April its time to look back at March and see which trams were out on the tracks at the Seaton Tramway during the month, courtesy of the monthly update newsletter the tramway produces and sends to subscribers.
March saw the tramway running at weekends only (although that has now changed with daily opening until the start of November in operation now) and there were three of the regular passenger trams which weren’t required although the other nine all made appearances.
As is usual one of the newest trams tops the charts with 10 – still retaining its Glasgow inspired livery – managing to cover 354 miles, which amounts to 59 trips up and down the line between Seaton and Colyton.
Open-top Feltham style tram no. 12 also managed over 300 miles with 324 in total recorded whilst the medal positions were concluded by 9 which managed 288 miles. The mainly clement weather enjoyed during March is shown in the figures as the enclosed saloons didn’t see as much use with 19 not out at all. The other two trams not used were 4 and 8.
The full figures were as follows:
10 – 354 miles
12 – 324 miles
9 – 288 miles
11 – 198 miles
16 – 114 miles
15 – 102 miles
6 – 60 miles
2 – 48 miles
14 – 6 miles
- Seaton Tramway is now open daily until Sunday 2nd November 2025. The Blue timetable will operate until Friday 25th July before the Pink timetable is introduced for the summer holidays. The Blue timetable sees departures every 20 minutes between 1000 and 1700 from Seaton, and 1040 and 1700 return from Colyton.
8 is covering as the engineers tram for 02 during its overhaul, hence it’s lack of public service use.
