A collection of 40 historic London County Council Tramway posters are to go on display next month at the London Archives. This will be a rare chance to see some of the designs which were seen across the LCC network in the 1920s and early 1930s, before the London Passenger Transport Board was created.
During the early part of the twentieth century many transport undertakings across the UK publicised their services with impressively designed posters. Whilst the posters used by rail companies and across the London Underground network have become iconic in their own right, several tram companies did the same including London County Council Tramways.
And now reproductions of some of their best posters will be displayed at the London Archives between 10th February and 26th June 2025.
- The London Archives is located at 40 Northampton Road, London, EC1R 0HB. Entry to the LCC Tramways Poster exhibition is free. More details at https://www.thelondonarchives.org/.
