Transport for London have confirmed that a limited service will operate on London Tramlink during the planned strike on Thursday 28th March. This service will mainly consist of trams running between Wimbledon and East Croydon although the very first two trams of the day will run to New Addington. There will no trams at all on the Beckenham Junction and Elmers End routes.
As previously reported ASLEF members have voted in favour of strike action over what they consider to be an unsatisfactory three year pay deal as this still brings their wages under over transport modes within TfL. An overwhelming majority were in favour of the strike with the first date announced as Thursday 28th March.
To try and minimise disruption to passengers TfL will be running the following service:
* Between 0700 and 2000 trams every eight minutes between Wimbledon and East Croydon
* Before 0700 and after 2000 the frequency between Wimbledon and East Croydon will be every 15 minutes
* In addition the 0411 and 0426 from Therapia Lane and 0456 and 0511 return will run all the way to New Addington. These will be the only trams running beyond East Croydon on the day.
* There will be no service to either Beckenham Junction or Elmers End
Passengers are being advised that services will be busier than usual and also that alternatives are also likely to be in the same situation. No specific replacement buses will be put on with prospective travellers pointed towards service buses or alternative rail modes.
A normal service will resume from the start of service on Friday 29th March.
