Christmas and New Year services 2025/6

This is your regular one-stop guide to planned services over the festive period; with the usual caveat that operational reasons may mean there are some changes so please check with the operator before travelling.

Blackpool Tramway

24th December: Normal timetable until final trams at 1905 from Starr Gate and 2001 from Fleetwood

25th December: No service

26th December: No service due to limited usage in recent years when a service has run

27th December: Normal Saturday service

28th December: Normal Sunday service

29th and 30th December: Normal weekday service

31st December: Normal timetable until final trams at 1905 from Starr Gate and 2001 from Fleetwood

1st January: No service due to limited usage in recent years when a service has run

Docklands Light Railway

24th December: Saturday service, services end by 2230.

25th December: No service

26th December: Special service with first trains from 0800. No service Tower Gateway-Shadwell.

27th December: Saturday service

28th December: Sunday service

29th and 30th December: Saturday service

31st December: Saturday day service with special all-night service featuring trains every 15 minutes from 0030

1st January: Sunday service

Edinburgh Trams

24th December: Normal service

25th December: No service

26th December to 29th December: Normal service

30th December: Normal service until 1750. The network will then run a split service: Edinburgh Airport-West End and Picardy Place-Newhaven.

31st December: Split service will run Edinburgh Airport-West End and Picardy Place-Newhaven from every 10 minutes all day. After midnight free trams will run (0000-0200 every 10 minutes, 0200-normal start of service frequent service)

1st January: Split service (Edinburgh Airport-West End and Picardy Place-Newhaven) will run until Princes Street reopens. Then a full service runs from every 7 minutes.

London Trams

24th December: Normal service until 2000 then reduced service with normal finish times

25th December: No service

26th December: Sunday service

27th December: Saturday service

28th December: Sunday service

29th and 30th December: Saturday service

31st December: Saturday service during day with all night running featuring trams Wimbledon-New Addington every 30 minutes and Wimbledon-Beckenham Junction every 30 minutes

1st January: Sunday service

Luas

24th December: Services will end at 2000

25th December: No service

26th December: Sunday frequency from 0900

27th December: Saturday service

28th December: Sunday service

29th and 30th December: Saturday service

31st December: Saturday service plus Night Luas (hourly services between 0100 and 0300 on Red and Green lines)

1st January: Sunday service

Manchester Metrolink

24th December: Services start at 0600 but will finish earlier with last trams arriving at terminus stops around 2100. 15 minute frequency on each line.

25th December: No service

26th December: Services will operate 0700-0000 every 15 minutes. Additional trams 1800-0000 between Altrincham and Crumpsall for Manchester United v Newcastle United match.

27th to 30th December: Normal operating hours with a 15 minute frequency (no peak-time extras).

31st December: Trams every 12 minutes from 0600. After 2100 no trams will run via St Peter’s Square. Last trams from city centre at 0100.

1st January: Trams every 15 minutes from 0700-0000.

Nottingham Express Transit

24th December: Normal service

25th December: No service

26th December: Sunday service

27th to 31st December: Normal service

1st January: Sunday service

South Yorkshire Supertram

24th December: Saturday timetable with early finish.

25th December: No service

26th December: Special service. Yellow route runs Meadowhall to Middlewood and Festive Blue runs Halfway to Meadowhall via Cathedral. No Purple route or Tram-Train service will operate and no trams will run to Malin Bridge.

27th December: Saturday service.

28th December: Sunday service.

29th & 30th December: Saturday service

31st December: Saturday timetable with early finish.

1st January: Special service. Yellow route will run Meadowhall-Middlewood, Tram-Train will run Rotherham Parkgate-Cathedral and Blue route will run Halfway-Cathedral. No Purple route service and no trams to Malin Bridge.

2nd January: Saturday service

Tyne and Wear Metro

24th December: Weekday service until 1800 then hourly service.

25th December: No service

26th December: Sunday service from 0800-2000.

27th December: Normal Saturday service

28th December: Normal Sunday service

29th & 30th December: Normal service

31st December: Weekday service until 2100 then 30 minute service

1st January: No service

West Midlands Metro

24th December: Normal service

25th December: No service

26th December: Sunday service

27th to 31st December: Normal service

1st January: Sunday service

Beamish

Open daily from 27th December to 31st December between 1000 and 1600. Closed 1st January. East Anglian Transport Museum

Open on 1st January between 1100 and 1630

Seaton Tramway

27th December to 4th January: Trams running every 20 minutes from Seaton to Colyton between 1000 and 1600
