Edinburgh Trams saw a minor derailment occur at Edinburgh Airport on Sunday 16th November 2025, meaning that only platform 2 was available for use until the tram could be re-railed the following day.
The tram involved was 259 (one of those which retains CR Smith adverts) and the incident happened around the points which allows trams to switch tracks when arriving and departing from the terminus. It happened shortly before 1430.
It wasn’t possible for the tram to be immediately put back onto the rails, with this taking place the following day instead. 259 was then returned to depot for a full assessment to take place. Platform 1 at Edinburgh Airport was available for trams to use again early evening on Monday 17th November.
