Metrolink delays after car and tram collides at Ashton West

Manchester Metrolink services on the East Manchester line were temporarily delayed on Thursday 6th May after a car and tram collided close to the stop at Ashton West. M5000 3078 was the tram involved with the car being a dark red Ford. It led to all trams being suspended between Ashton Moss and Ashton-under-Lyne while the incident was dealt with.

The collision happened at approximately 1245 on Thursday 6th May with 3078 leading a service from Ashton-under-Lyne to Eccles via MediaCityUK. It occurred along Lord Sheldon Way where cars cross the path of the tracks. It is not known as this stage the cause of the collision but no injuries were reported either on board the tram or in the car.

While the car and tram were removed there was ticket acceptance in place on the no. 216 bus to allow passengers to continue their journeys.
