Supertram rail replacement works extended

Stagecoach Supertram have announced that the current area 3 rail replacement works will now take longer than expected with the period of closure being extended until Monday 14th September. They were originally due to end on Tuesday 1st September. As a result of this extension area 4 works will now started from Tuesday 15th September.

The area 3 rail replacement works are taking place between Gleadless Townend and Spring Lane with work having started on Saturday 25th July. The information released by Supertram has said that “extra work sites” have now been added to the programme which has meant a further 13 days of closure is now needed.

No trams will be running between Sheffield Station and Halfway for the whole extended period with Blue route trams restricted to the Malin BrIdge to Sheffield Station section and Purple route trams not running at all. Both the Yellow route and the Tram-Train service are running their normal routes throughout.

There is also a replacement bus service being run by Powells Bus Company between Commercial Street in the city centre and Halfway.
